This lake side home in Olympia was about to receive a major lake view home remodel. The layout of the first floor of the home was divided into smaller rooms and the living spaces did not take advantage of the lake view.
The main focus of this lake view home remodel was the kitchen. Once tucked in a small room at the rear of the house, the kitchen was moved across the home to the lakeside to a small room that was rarely used. The new layout of the kitchen took advantage of the lake view by placing the new Spiced Cider Wood cabinets along the perimeter. To contrast the perimeter cabinets the central island is a darker wood stain. This way the cook can enjoy the view of the lake and enjoy the company in the living room. The small sliding door in this room was replaced with a new 12’-0” wide double sliding door opening the kitchen to the deck outside.
The interior walls of the former kitchen space were removed allowing this area to become a spacious dining area, open to the rest of the first floor. In what used to be the dining room, a small home office desk was set up in the corner. The new desk is dual purpose; not only does it serve as a home office for the couple, but with the incorporation of a pantry cabinets and a bench, it also serves as a mud entry. The pantry cabinet allows for a place to hang coats as you enter the home, something the original home did not have. A bench seat was designed into the composition to allow you to sit and take your shoes off as you enter. Under the bench there are two shelves that keep the clutter of shoes off the floor.
A small powder and utility room was reconfigured to allow for a larger a powder room for the home. The clean lines of the new pedestal sink add a beautiful juxtaposition to the slate tile flooring that brings the cabin feel of the home into the powder room.
Now that the lake view home remodel is complete the homeowners have a warm open cabin to enjoy the lake they live on.
