If finances are tight this year, there are still beautiful & creative ways to decorate your home. Using recycled materials is something that designers have been doing for years to cut costs & it’s something you should consider too!
Wood Pallets
Wood pallets are used at every grocery store. This is a material that most stores have no need for after their product delivery has arrived, so you can usually take them for free when you ask! Pallets can easily be stacked together to create a rustic looking book shelf or coffee table. You can paint them, stain them or just keep them the way they were received.
Wooden Barrels
Wooden barrels are another inexpensive and different way to add character to the inside or outside of your home. Create your own decorative end table by placing the filler of your choice inside the barrel and placing a piece of round glass on the open top. Or simply cut the barrel in half and place it on your porch as a plant holder!
Old Windows
You’d be amazed how many old windows are laying around if you just look out for them! Antique shops and flea markets are ideal places to find them as well. Old windows make for great coffee tables that can also second as a shadow box. Or create an open air seating area outside in your backyard!
Wooden Planks
If you have piles of wooden planks just laying around outside, don’t turn them into fire kindle! You can turn these would be scraps into some one-of-a-kind art work for your home. Choose your favorite photo and mount it on painted planks. You can also fashion some great kitchen art with the words of your favorite snacks!
