Does anyone else cringe when it comes to picking paint? If I’m honest it’s not my favorite part of the home remodel process but it’s definitely an important one!
In our new home our color palette is really neutral and grey. My favorite look is tone on tone. I am still making decisions on exactly what hues will go where (I will share my final selections later) but more than color there are some important factors in choosing what brand of paint to use.
Below are the biggest selling points for us when choosing a paint:
- Low VOC (Avoids contributing to air pollution and a host of health issues including breathing problems, headache, burning, watery eyes and nausea)
- Coverage
- Durability (Look for a stain blocker)
Two brands that meet our criteria are the new Emerald line from Sherwin-Williams and Devine Color Paint. Sherwin Williams is really excited about the Emerald line as it is their best performing paint and it’s most recent formula – durable and remarkably smooth. Devine paint is attractive because of thier rich color pallete and the soft lush finish.
So next time you find yourself sorting through paint chips for the perfect color make sure you also choose a paint based on how its made and how it performs too.
