Seattle Interior Design

Now that Fall is fully present in the beautiful Pacific Northwest many things are changing. Leaves are changing colors, the temperature is dropping, rain is a norm, it’s getting darker quicker, pumpkins are everywhere and decorations are changing! Here at Renewal Remodel we love Fall and the smells and sights that come with it. Here are 5 of the top things that you could do within your own home to bring in the Fall season!
- Bring out the candles – Fall has a certain smell that comes with it. The first smell that comes to mind is pumpkin spice and various festive plants. So, bring the smell into your home with a seasonal candle! Not only does a candle make your home smell inviting and festive, it creates a sense of warmth that nothing else can really match. If you have people over they will feel more open and more comfortable as the soothing smell relaxes them and the warm glow of the candle eases their mind.
- Get the fireplace in tip-top shape (and maybe add an outside fireplace) – While we’re on the subject of warmth, why not get your fireplace in top condition before the cold really kicks in? If you have an indoor fireplace now is a perfect time to make sure that it’s ready for use. If you have an older style fireplace you can make sure that you have enough wood to burn for the entire season (it’s better to get this out of the way once than have to keep going back and forth to buy or cut more wood). In addition, if you have an outdoor fireplace now is a great time to get it ready for use! We know this blog post is technically about Seattle interior design, but if you don’t have an outdoor fireplace you can easily make your own in your backyard or buy a fire pit from a local Lowe’s or Home Depot.
- Switch out pillows, curtains or slipovers in your living/family room – Everyone wants to get together during the Fall and eat good food and share quality time. If you want your guests to really feel comfortable this Fall try to switch your pillows, curtains or slipovers to warmer colors and thicker materials. Some Fall colors include darker reds, browns, oranges and some darker grays.
- Layers, layers, layers – Since the temperature is dropping adding layers to EVERYTHING is a great idea. For example, you could add more layers to your carpets and rugs to create a warmer and softer feeling. Also, you can add soft blankets on top of heavier blankets on your couches or sitting areas. Something else that you could layer is table settings.
- Make your bedroom cozier – Make sure to do something for yourself as well! Put those lighter sheets away and add some heavier and warmer sheets to your bed. A great material that you can use is flannel. Everything about flannel says fall and it’s warm and comfortable!
These are just some ways you can decorate your home for the Fall. Improve your Seattle interior design by implementing the things mentioned above! Have any additional Seattle interior design ideas?
