Valentine’s Day Brownie Hearts

Valentine’s Day Brownie Hearts Recipe

Surprise the family this year with some delightful Valentine’s Day brownie hearts! Easy to make and even easier to eat, these brownies are sure to be a fan favorite for years to come:

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter (1/2 pound)
  • 2 1/2 cups packed light-brown sugar
  • 6 oz unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 4 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Confectioners’ sugar, granulated sugar, cocoa powder and whatever else your family enjoys as brownie toppings

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and butter a 9″ x 13″ cake pan.
  2. Cut a piece of wax paper to fit the bottom of the pan and press onto the buttered surface.
  3. Combine butter, brown sugar, and chocolate in a large microwave safe bowl.
  4. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stir to combine. *If the chocolate is not softened, continue to microwave at 10 second intervals removing before completely melted.*
  5. Beat eggs and vanilla into the melted chocolate with a wooden spoon.
  6. Then beat in the flour and salt.
  7. Pour into prepared cake pan, and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean. LET COOL.
  9. Run a knife around the edge of the pan and turn the brownie cake out onto a baking sheet.
  10. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to shape the brownies and dust with whichever toppings you choose!
  11. What to do with the scraps?! Eat them up or roll them into 1-inch balls and roll in the remaining toppings.
