Valentine’s Day Brownie Hearts Recipe
Surprise the family this year with some delightful Valentine’s Day brownie hearts! Easy to make and even easier to eat, these brownies are sure to be a fan favorite for years to come:
Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter (1/2 pound)
- 2 1/2 cups packed light-brown sugar
- 6 oz unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 4 large eggs at room temperature
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Confectioners’ sugar, granulated sugar, cocoa powder and whatever else your family enjoys as brownie toppings
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees and butter a 9″ x 13″ cake pan.
- Cut a piece of wax paper to fit the bottom of the pan and press onto the buttered surface.
- Combine butter, brown sugar, and chocolate in a large microwave safe bowl.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute, stir to combine. *If the chocolate is not softened, continue to microwave at 10 second intervals removing before completely melted.*
- Beat eggs and vanilla into the melted chocolate with a wooden spoon.
- Then beat in the flour and salt.
- Pour into prepared cake pan, and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean. LET COOL.
- Run a knife around the edge of the pan and turn the brownie cake out onto a baking sheet.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to shape the brownies and dust with whichever toppings you choose!
- What to do with the scraps?! Eat them up or roll them into 1-inch balls and roll in the remaining toppings.
