It’s the time of year in the Pacific Northwest where we are all enduring the winter chill. It’s foggy, frosty and cold. Anne Beadstreet said, “If we had no winter the spring would not be so pleasant.” This couldn’t be more true! This time of year makes us appreciate the coming of spring and enjoy it all the more. With that thought in mind we wanted to share a remodel project where the homeowners transformed their outdoor living space to enjoy the beautiful Northwest summers.
Home Remodel – Tacoma, Washington
This residence had one thing the homeowners loved, a clear view of the Puget Sound and the Narrows Bridge. However, there were features of this home the owners knew they were going to change in order to get the wow factor they wanted. The home was small, the style was outdated, and was in need of natural light.
A guest suite addition was added to the front of existing “L” shaped home to create an inviting front courtyard. Though the courtyard is enclosed with a new stone wall, the details of the gate, the water fountain in the courtyard and lighting make this space welcoming even from the street.
The once unassuming and rarely used back of the house now has become an extension of the home with a new covered patio. The large double sliding door opens the home up to the new stamped concrete covered patio allowing the homeowners to take full advantage of the views of the Puget Sound.
The transformation of this once small and outdated home became a functional yet stunning place for entertaining.
